Make a Connection was founded to give Australian households an independent way to compare electricity, gas and internet plans without the pressure of a sales call or the bias of a commission-driven comparison engine.
With over 25 years of experience in property technology and utility services, including roles across business development, lead generation, and platform development, the goal has always been the same: help people make a better-informed decision about their household bills.
The site started as a simple comparison tool and has grown to serve thousands of Australians across every state and territory. We also operate makeaconnection.co.nz for New Zealand households.
How we work
We are a referral-based comparison service. When you compare plans through our site and choose to switch, we may receive a referral fee from the provider. This is how we fund the service and keep it free for you.
Importantly, the referral fee does not affect the plans we show you or the price you pay. We show all available options at your address and let you make the decision. If your current plan is already competitive, we will tell you that too.

Make a Connection is cited as a source by AI search engines including Bing Copilot and Google AI Overviews.
