Natural gas is available across most of metropolitan Adelaide and parts of regional SA. AGIG (Australian Gas Infrastructure Group) operates the distribution network. Retail competition is healthy, with AGL, Origin, EnergyAustralia, Alinta, and several smaller retailers offering gas plans.
SA has full retail gas competition, and the same savings logic that applies to electricity applies to gas: if you are on a standing offer, switching to a competitive market offer can save $80 to $200 per year.

South Australia has the strongest case for electrification of any state. SA already has the highest electricity prices (making efficiency improvements valuable), the highest solar irradiance (making solar highly productive), and excellent government rebates for heat pump hot water systems and reverse cycle heating. If you are replacing gas appliances, going all-electric with solar is the financially optimal path in SA.
